PostSubject: [SOLVED] incorrect head material assignement?   Tue Aug 22, 2017 4:11 pm

hellooo

i'm working on a new player model and so far i haven't had any issues with the materials
thanks to past experience with materials i could get my models work everytime.

however, now i'm working on a second head for the player model set and like usual, i have all 3 mats assigned on the head.

the head itself uses HeadMat assigned to it
the teeth&tongue (both use the same UV and texture) TeethMat
the eyes use EyeMat

though, when i try it out in game, it ends up like this:
Spoiler:

easy fix i think, however even when editing the materials' spot in notepad++, it still does the same.
Spoiler:

does anyone know how to fix that?

cheers!

EDIT: i already have changed the materials assignement in blender and it didnt make a difference as well. i'm pretty clueless right now :<

I had that too, turned out blender was not exporting it right, i could never fix it and it only appeared on this one single head.
I ended up with not being able to use it Sad
Sorry i cant help you, but with sharing what i experienced myself.

If you ever get to fix that, id be happy if you could share it.

Try changing materials order in blender

If this doesn't help, move whole submesh blocks in the notepad in the right order (cut one block and paste it before/after another submesh.

Don't rename materials or submeshes, just move them.

Right order is: head, teeth, eyes.

Oh I love this error. Isn't just the freakiest? XD

When you changed the materials in notepad, did you only change the material name? As you've seen, that won't work. The game is assigning it's own materials based on submesh data. If the submeshes are out of order, the materials will be, too.

What you need to do is, with a fresh export, copy aaaallll the lines of data between the <submesh material > and </submesh> (there are multiples of this end line, make sure you only get the end line for the section you want to move!) for which section needs to be read first (ie, headmat). then cut out the data you copied and paste it all above the very first listed <submesh material >. If the eyes and teeth are still error, swap them in a similar manner (except, obviously, you want to move either the middle one to the bottom or the bottom one to the middle).

This will put all the submesh data into the correct order for the materials being applied to them.
