PostSubject: Increase size of Heightmap texture?   Sun Nov 08, 2015 3:30 am

Is there a way to increase the size of the heightmap texture for more detailed terrains on massive maps?

I'm looking at using 2052 (current being 513) on a 30k map but at the moment, when changing it to 2052 (and 2052 in terrain.cfg) the game crashes.

Help?

Hmm, maybe change the "PageSize=513" to "PageSize=2052?"

If you already done that then my post is pointless |D

If your texture is 2052 then your PageSize needs to be 2053.

I remember that I made one 513x513 to match the PageSize once and it crashed me. I took it back to 512 and it worked fine. Tried with a texture that was 1024 and with the PageSize at 1025 it worked.

Give it a try anyway XD

(n*2)-1

(513*2)-1 is 1025 which, if im remembering right, is the size of the hieghtmap in savannah.
(1025*2)-1 comes to 2049. which is flipping enormous but you'll have a tun of space for miniscule detail and possibly a little lag....

as long as the size of the file follows that equation and you match the dimensions in the terrain file, it sshhhoouuullddd function properly.......(along with flattening the image and saving as greyscale lol)
