My biggest peeve has always been the complete lack of collision detection against meshes... So I finally did something about it. I'm replacing the whole manual collision placement and putting in automatic collision detection with the help of ray tracing. Right now it's checking for collision forwards, backwards and below you.. I don't know if I should check for collision above since you'd probably end up getting stuck in places, and you wouldn't be able to climb trees (:

Anyway, here's a short demo. It's live on LM for testing now if someone wants to screw around.

I have a thing for never finishing anything, but even if I did I don't know. Not now at least since I had to go through a lot of pain and suffering while debugging infinite loops to get it working. So I don't feel like handing it out, maybe if someone asks nicely enough (:

Yeah, houses and caves is a problem since you can jump straight through the roof and end up on top of them Razz

Congrats Myz you have done something we have all wanted.
Now if there was also auto collision between players and critters then that would be beyond awesome.

Are we doin it rite? Just need to change the ray to also hit the player and critter mask, but since I'm only using single rays it's a bit too inaccurate for it to work that well. I don't know if more rays would cause lag for those with bad computers, guess I'll have to mess around with it.

wouldn't that create a problem with light models like grass? would feel funny to bump into grass. that's awesome though.
